Deb Schaubert will be honored this fall by NDBA for 30 years in banking.
Deb started her banking career right after high school at banks in Bismarck and Dickinson as a bookkeeper. She spent two years at a credit union in Bismarck in pro-draft, starting them on truncation.
“I remember working at my first job; we’d answer the phone, write down the account number on a slip of paper, put them on hold and go stand in line to review a green bar report.” While there, she took a position printing reports in house. She would go in at 4 a.m. to print reports for all departments and as early as 2:00 a.m. when they had to print statements.
“The computer was as big as a house! Technology today is crazy good!” she smiles.
After a short hiatus to be home with her children, she started at Security State Bank of North Dakota’s Carrington branch in January 1995 as a loan tech – right at the peak of loan renewal season!
A Bill Brown Annual Award winner in 2009 for outstanding customer service support, she is now Bank Forward’s VP Lead Loan Specialist. She processes loans for several branches and answers questions for techs and officers.
The one thing that Deb says stays the same is the people. “Your goal back then was to take care of the customers first and it still is.” Deb has some advice for someone new to banking: “Enjoy the ride! Stick with it!”
Thank you, Deb, and congratulations on your years of service!
