Bank Forward donated $1,000.00 to the Wounded Warriors Project to go towards their annual Walker Retreat. Pictured here are Mark Sylstad, Bank Forward Market President, Andy Haskell, Insure Forward Sales Agent and Kelly Nelson, Walker VFW and American Legion representative.
The Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or wound coincident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001. The vision of the Wounded Warrior Project is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history. More than 50,000 Americans have been combat-wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2001. We are out of Iraq and with our mission in Afghanistan ending soon, it is yet to be determined if the US will continue to have combat troops there after 2014.
American citizens have provided tremendous support for our military since 911 regardless of their political affiliation. The community of Walker has shown support for these military service members by hosting an annual retreat to help thank them for all they have done to serve our country. Minnesota veterans of war have been invited to Walker for a long fishing-opener-weekend of free lodging, money for food and gas, fishing gear, guided fishing tours and whatever else the group may need. This is a great cause for the veterans and our community.
Last summer, Kelly Nelson was one of the guest speakers at a Bank Forward-hosted leadership event in Walker, MN. Mark Sylstad, Bank Forward Walker Market President, shared Nelson’s inspirational story on the Bank Forward blog.
Bank Forward is a full-service bank that believes in the value of community.
