Teaching our Kids Online Safety
Our kids have never known a world without the internet. It’s commonplace for a toddler to skillfully operate any mobile device. And just like we teach them to tie their shoes, be kind to others, and how to wash their own clothes, we need to teach them about online safety and privacy.
It’s There FOREVER
It is crucial to teach our children that once something is posted, it can easily be copied, shared, and pretty much impossible to get back. Before posting consider if this is something you want grandma seeing? Keep posts positive and classy!
The Golden Rule
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Have you heard that one…The Golden Rule. Well, it’s true in online activity. Teach junior to never post something they wouldn’t want someone to post about them.
Own It
Teach your kids the importance of owning their information and their importance of security and privacy settings online. Our personal information is very important and needs to be treated as such. Talk to your kids about the information they are sharing on their favorite games and apps and help them be selective in what they share.
