Cybersecurity is defined as “the state of being protected against the criminal or unauthorized use of electronic data, or the measures taken to achieve this.”

Sounds good, right? And you are doing everything you can to combat cyber criminals and unauthorized use, right? What? You’re not sure? Well, here are some quick tips from the global online safety awareness campaign called “Stop. Think. Connect.TM.”


You gotta have your security measures in place to stop the bad guys in their tracks. Keep security software current and turn on automatic updates of these software programs if it is available. This will ensure you have the latest version of protection.


Actions and behaviors have consequences, good and bad, right? We teach our kids that how many times have you said (or thought) “he had it coming,” too many?

Well the saying is true with cybersecurity. You need to think about your actions and behaviors online to stay safe too. Don’t click on links from senders you don’t know or didn’t ask for information from. If someone is asking for your personal information, don’t give it to them. When you’re entering your account payment info, make sure that browser window starts https://. And lastly, if things sound too good to be true, 9.99 times out of 10 they are! Don’t fall for it!


Enjoy the internet. Seriously, how great is it that we have all this information right at our fingertips? Amazing! Just do so wisely. Know your security setting of different websites and be cautious of what information you share online.
